May 2, 2008 April Labor Report Released
The April Employment Situation Summary shows that the job market’s downward trend this year has somewhat slowed. The number of unemployed as well as the employment rate changed little from prior months; though showing an increase compared to April 2007, many experts say this is a positive sign for 2008.
Despite such little change for April, a new trend looks to be developing as seen in an increase in part-time workers. In the past month, the number of people working part-time for economic reasons increased by 306,000 to 5.2M. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, these individuals indicated they were working part-time because their hours had been cut back or because they were unable to find a full-time job.
While we at All Star understand why some individuals may not mind working part-time temporarily in order to meet school or family financial obligations, we are certainly here to help those who are less-than-content with their current employment situation.
