August's Steady Numbers Portend Well for Personal Career Growth
The U.S. Department of Labor announced today that employers added 128,000 non-farm jobs in August, and the
unemployment rate was little changed at 4.7 percent. Job growth occurred particularly in education and health services. Other industries had modest increases. Average hourly earnings rose by 2 cents, or 0.1 percent, in August following larger gains in the prior two months.
Compared with July, unemployment in the general population was unchanged.
In general, these are relatively good times for job seekers and those working towards new jobs. Yet, as you can see from the numbers, an hourly earnings rise of 2 cents is not going boost your quality of life. At All Star Resume, we encourage you to take stock of where you are in your career.
