April 15, 2008 Identity Theft Concerns
As if job seekers didn't have enough to worry about already, now they're
facing identity theft risks too. It seems the unscrupulous individuals who run
these rings don't discriminate among victims.
Our advice to job seekers is to keep as much personal information as possible
off your resumes and beware to whom you may be speaking. Prospective employers
don't need your social security number, direct deposit information, etc until
they are ready to extend an offer to you. And by the time they are ready to
extend you an offer, you will have visited their site, spoken to other
employees, and you'll know they're legitimate.
