Back to Basics: Your Contact Information
From time to time, All Star Resume receives unsolicited resumes from people who are cold calling for jobs. We know that
cold calling is an essential part of the job hunt, and are pleased that people take initiative in these matters.
We do, however, receive more than a few resumes that mystify us, and here's a case in point. Today we received an
impressive resume, one that details all kinds of valuable experience, training, and education. We were intrigued
and attempted to follow up, but no luck. The person's phone number was disconnected and his email address no longer valid.
You owe it to yourself to review each and every resume you send out, and make sure that all contact information is current.
If you know that transition is on the horizon, you can cover your email situation by signing up with a free email provider,
like G-Mail, Yahoo, or Hotmail. These companies provide email service that is portable, allowing you to access your account
regardless of where you are.
As for phone numbers, you may have to arrange to the phone number of a dependable, settled family member or friend.
Especially one who uses a fairly generic voice mail greeting.
