Federal Employment a Stronghold of High Salaries and Job Security
The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis reports that the average federal civilian worker earns $106,579 a year in total compensation,
or twice the $53,289 in wages and benefits for the typical private worker.
Another bonus is that they enjoy a 20-30% higher income than comparably skilled private workers. Nearly lifetime job security
is also benefit of federal employment. While airline and auto workers and software designers worry about downturns, changes in
technology or outsourcing, America's 1.8 million civilian employees live in a recession-proof bubble. And perhaps
fire proof as well. Only one in 5,000 federal non-defense employees is terminated for cause each year.
Federal employees and other government workers also tend to stick with their employers. The voluntary quit rate of
federal workers is only one-fourth of that in the private sector.
Of course, competition for federal jobs is stiff. If you are considering federal employment, All Star Resume may just
