Employers Expect to Maintain Current Hiring Pace
A recent survey of 16,000 employers by the temporary staffing agency Manpower found that most U.S. employers expect to either maintain their present staffing levels or
to add additional staff over the coming months.
30 per cent of employers said they plan to add more staff in between April and June of 2006. 58 per cent said they plan no changes. 6 per cent plan to reduce staff,
and another 6 per cent said they were undecided.
Manpower noted a modest increase in hiring projections in the education sector and a small decrease in the public administration sector. With the exception of the mining
sector, where high coal prices are increasing the demand for workers, hiring rates in the overall U.S. economy are holding steady, as they have for the past two years.
