According to December's Labor Report, Seven of Ten People are Unemployed in the U.S.
The December labor report was released today and ends 2008 on a dismal note. A total of 2.6 million job losses was reported for the year; 632,000 in December alone. According to the report, "Since the start of the recession in December 2007, the rate of unemployed persons has grown by 3.6 million and the unemployment rate has risen by 2.3 percentage points."
The unemployment rate is currently at 7.2 percent, whereas last month it was 6.8 thus growing .4 percentage points total. According to NPR.org, the year's job losses "have been the most since 1945, when nearly 2.8 million jobs were lost."
