Labor Department's June Report Shows Dip The the U.S. Labor Department June report shows that 121,000 people joined the workforce last month, a slight dip in the numbers projected by economists. Yet, the jobless rate stayed at a five-year low and hourly earnings rose 8 cents.
June's gain was slightly higher than May's, with a 92,000-job gain, but lower than economists had predicted.
Though Labor Department numbers are important, we again urge job seekers not to get discouraged by the government's monthly reports. From coast to coast, companies are anxiously looking for skilled and competent employees. If you are looking to start working or retool your career with a new job, now is a great time to create a new resume, hone up on networking and interviewing skills, and move ahead. By doing so, you may find that your hourly earnings rise by a lot more than 8 cents!
