Welcome to the sample resumes section of the All Star Resume Career Center!
Below you will find links to 39 .pdf
documents that present the same resume in
several different formats. We have put the same resume into 6 different templates,
and each template into 7 different fonts. In
addition, you will notice that our Contemporary Format resume is shown in
5 different color options.
You will notice that font choices change the amount of space the resume
text takes up. Our Conservative Format is the most
concise template, especially when printed in the Times New Roman font. If
you have a lot of information to include in your resume, we
strongly recommend using the Conservative Format with
the Times New Roman font.
In order
to offer a clearer comparison between fonts, we left the resumes
nearly identical in terms of content. You'll notice that several
examples have awkward page breaks as a result. Rest assured that
when we actually prepare a client's resume, we adjust the format
and content in order to produce an attractive, concise, and
easy-to-read document.
We strongly recommend that job applicants targeting traditional positions in traditional
companies stick with a 'no frills' resume format that is easy to read and
understand. Remember, your resume is just one of hundreds or thousands that the hiring
manager will look over. It's a courtesy to the decision maker
to present your information in an easy-to-read document. For that reason,
unless you have a very artistic or creative background and want to
play up that theme in your applications, you should avoid using
the Designer Format.
We deliberately chose a chronological outline for our sample resume and we kept it to one page
in length. We are
aware that there are other ways to organize information in a
resume. However, we strongly believe that the chronological
outline is the most suitable way to present resume information
to hiring managers. We advise clients to keep to a
chronological resume unless they have a compelling reason
to use a thematic or skills-based outline instead.
